Saturday marked a landmark moment for the Fenwick Park academy: three graduates — all aged twenty or under — started a league game together for the first time in the club's history.
Captain Marcus Hale, himself an academy product, led out a side featuring two debutants from this year's scholar intake. All three played the full ninety minutes in the 3–1 victory over Everton.
"The lads were magnificent," the manager said. "They train with the first team every day, so nothing fazed them. This is the model — develop our own, trust our own."
The academy now works with more than 200 players across twelve age groups, and Saturday's milestone is the clearest proof yet that the pathway is working. Two more scholars have been invited to train with the senior squad this month.
